Description, Duties, and Responsibilities:

Please consider applying to the Intergroup Hostility Project. The Intergroup Hostility Project aims to advance the understanding of intergroup conflict through the assembly of a comprehensive database. This project will collect the use of religious language by hate groups (as identified by the Southern Poverty Law Center) in their “About”, “Take Action”, “Staff”, and “Donate” pages of their website. The research assistant will be tasked with coding various websites, entering data into a Google Sheets document, and other tasks associated with data collection and cleaning. Students are expected to work around 5 hours per week and should have some background and interest in sociological research.

Requirements & Competencies:

Students are expected to have experience with entering data into Excel/Google Sheets. Prior experience with data management, data analysis, and content coding is not required, but highly desired. Past research experience is also a plus. This position requires access to a computer and internet.

Work Location:

This position is 100% remote. Training and meetings will be conducted through Zoom.

Hours & Schedule:

Students are expected to work around 5 hours per week. The schedule is flexible.
