Gordon Rees Scully Mansukhani, a 50-state national law firm, has an immediate opening for a Part Time Conflicts Clerk. Ideal candidate must have one or more years of experience in conflicts. This is a “work from home” position for candidates located in the Pacific Time Zone.
This position is responsible to conduct accurate and timely conflicts checks for all incoming new business to the Firm in accordance with Firm protocols. The position requires a strong analytical ability to analyze conflict searches, generate conflicts reports, and respond to conflicts related inquiries. In addition, the position has significant interactions with partners/attorneys/staff and other various departments within the firm. The Conflicts Clerk understands legal conflicts and related ethical rules.
Conduct conflict of interest searches and effectively handle matter intake through conclusion; make decisions regarding actions to be taken, including assessment of complex or unusual requests; make decisions about interpretation of conflicts data, and/or determine techniques or methods to be used to resolve conflicts.
Conduct corporate business research and analysis; research corporate history of clients and parties related to the former and new client work.
Analyze conflicts reports, make informed recommendations and highlight potential conflicts for attorney review.
Communicate and disseminate conflict of interest information in writing or orally, following up with lawyers and others as needed to handle all due diligence and ensure that any conflicts are resolved.
Conduct research using third-party business resources for all new clients and for other assigned work as needed.
Serve as an informational and procedural resource for attorneys and staff regarding the lateral and new hire conflict process and related department policies.
Actively maintain working knowledge of the applicable rules of professional conduct, client relationship considerations, and related developments.
Participate in or manage special projects and perform other duties as assigned.
Work overtime as needed and approved, including weekend and holiday e-mail and conflicts check coverage shared with other staff on a rotating, calendared basis.
Consistently contribute to the department work product by communicating and collaborating in a manner that enhances individual and team productivity.
Medium to large law firm experience is preferred. Professional demeanor is required, as well as excellent organizational and interpersonal skills, including the ability to interact with attorneys, management, and staff.
Must be able to prioritize, multitask, work under pressure and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a high-level work product.
Strong attention to detail and time management skills.
Must also exercise discretion and good judgment.
Excellent project management skills and relevant experience leading enterprise-wide initiatives.
Proficiency using on-line research tools and databases such as Intapp OPEN, Aderant, Dunn & Bradstreet, Hoovers.
