Grant Research Assistant

The University of Michigan-Flint Public Health & Health Sciences Department is seeking temporary employment services of two (2) Research Assistants (Clerk B) working directly with faculty and departmental staff on the Beyond Rhetoric grant with the ability to work from home.
This position is for approximately 4 hours per week, with a flexible schedule for the next 42 weeks.

Research Assistant responsibilities:
These positions will primarily focus their time researching, obtaining, and organizing best practices and policies for combating racism in various areas (i.e., education, employment, food and water access, finance, housing, healthcare, criminal justice, policing, voting righs and the built environment that impacts the health and well-being of people of color.
Additionally, you will set-up CAC meetings, take attendance, and notes to be summarized and submitted to the grant’s project manager..
Research assistants will be required to attend virtual weekly staff meetings.
- Undergraduate student in good academic standing at the University of Michigan-Flint (3.0 GPA or higher)
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and Google drive/email/calendar and documents
- Student should have good professional writing and commuication skills
- Highly organized, reliable person with the ability to complete tasks assigned in a timely manner with appropriate supervision
- Positive service-oriented attitude
- Ability to set-up a remote workspace from home
- Competence in using video chat technology such as BlueJeans, GoogleMeets, or Zoom. Available Wi-Fi connection and mobile devices for remote work.
- Available for at least 4 hours per week for 42 weeks
- Prior experience/familiarity with research
- Expressed interest in social determinance of health, racial/ethnic health inequities and community-based participatory research
- Must flouish in an environment that is highly flexible, collaborative, and requires a high degree of self-motivation
- Demonstrate ability to pay attention to details and expeirence working with research datasets
- Work as a team player and share workload outside of defined job description as needed
- Must have the ability to work independantly on projects as well as demonstrate the ability to respect confidentiality
