Overview

The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology invites you to apply to be our Office Assistant. The successful candidate selected for this position will provide assistance in the Gynecologic Oncology section. Our primary need for this position is to assist with clinical filing, medical record keeping, and communication with other medical centers. Applicants who have experience with Electronic Health Records (EHR) will be most successful in this job. The position will require occasional travel between Banner University Medical Center-Tucson and the University of Arizona Cancer Center, located at 3838 N. Campbell Avenue. The person who fills this position will work closely with the gynecologic oncology nursing staff, administrative staff and faculty.

Duties & Responsibilities

* Maintain routine medical records, logs, data and other materials alphabetically, numerically or by other prescribed method.

* Operate office equipment such as computers, copiers and printers.

* Type labels and transcribe notes from rough draft or clear copy.

* Complete or enter data to departmental forms, checking information for accuracy.

* Process documents or forms according to instructions.

* Deliver items to other offices or locations. Travel time between locations would be 35% or less.

* Assist research staff in abstracting data from Electronic Heath Records (EHR) for databases associated with investigator-initiated trials, and those for clinical research requiring electronic and hard copy chart reviews.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

Detail oriented.

* Skill in reading, spelling and organization.

* Skill in complex filing and recordkeeping.

* Experience in the medical field and/or with patient care preferred.

* Experience working with Electronic Health Records (EHR).

* Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) training.

* Ability to respect patient privacy and adhere to HIPAA guidelines.

* Skill in the operation of variety of office machines including personal computers, printers and copiers.

* Ability to communicate effectively.

* Ability to work autonomously and be self-motivated.

* Collaborative Institutional Training Initiative (CITI) training.
