Part-time position open for experienced tax preparer.
Accounting and bookkeeping hours will also be available for the candidate who also has skills and experience in these additional areas.
The ideal candidate will have experience with preparation and review of individual Forms 1040, including Schedule C and Schedule E, Business Forms 1120, 1120-S, and 1065. Must have experience with preparation of at least moderately complex tax returns.
Responsibilities will include preparation of tax returns, including research to determine accurate preparation, knowledge of tax saving and tax planning approaches, timely completion of returns, and excellent client service and communication.
EA is preferred but not required. A PTIN is required. Familiarity with Drake Tax Software and QuickBooks accounting software is a plus. If you enjoy researching, learning, and understanding IRS and state tax codes, we want to talk to you!
Additional potential responsibilities will be completion of monthly accounting services for small business clients – posting transactions, bank reconciliations, preliminary financial statements, and other accounting projects.
We have tax refresher training software available. We also offer opportunities for completion of additional CPE for tax and accounting.
Position will have flexible hours ranging from 10-20 per week from now through December, then will shift to tax season (Jan – April in normal times) hours of 20-35 per week, or more, depending on the volume of tax returns available and the other accounting projects available. We are looking for a permanent part time employee who will work year round. Must be able to work days, early evenings, and some Saturdays during tax season. We value our employees and can keep a somewhat flexible schedule as long as work is timely and client service is excellent.
We are open to remote work arrangements.
Compensation is based on a percentage of completed work, with a minimum hourly amount.
