Creative Community Supporter
Full Job Description
Tempest is a female-founded, first-of-its-kind digital recovery platform that provides alcohol misuse treatment for the 46 million Americans who don’t identify as addicted. We are a modern alternative to traditional options, and are focused on putting people at the center of their own recovery through an approach that’s empathetic, empowering, and desirable.
Tempest serves a customer currently ignored by the wellness, healthcare and recovery industries; deliver them to sobriety; and keep them engaged in an evolutionary pursuit at a fraction of the cost of traditional treatment modalities. We position sobriety less as a singular goal and more as a holistic, aspirational lifestyle, and communicate this through our meticulously designed brand, the thoughtfulness and joy built into our products, and our commitment to culture-shifting via The Temper, our media presence. We have a Direct to Consumer, three-tiered subscription-based membership model that provides basic to intensive intervention and recovery. We are in process of developing a clinical product with go-to-market in 2020.
About The Role
Tempest is looking for members to further connect to our community as a Community Supporters. As a Community Supporter, you will join a close knit group of volunteers who support Tempest members via posts, and through sharing your personal stories. We’re excited to meet candidates who want to go deeper into the Tempest curriculum, give back to the Tempest community, and who have approximately an hour a week to devote to supporting members on the platform.
After a month as a Community Supporter, Tempest members have the option of continuing on in the role or applying to our Pathways program. Pathways is Tempest’s program meant to engage Community Supporters who have an interest in more formally helping others in their recovery journey. As a member of the Pathways program, you’ll continue to act as a Community Supporter (making posts, showing folks how an introduction looks, commenting on other members posts, etc.) and you’ll also receive free Recovery Coach training in the Tempest method as well as free access to the Intensive course.
Upon completion of the Pathways program, you can continue on as a Community Supporter (if you choose) or continue being a member. You’ll also have the opportunity to apply for a part-time role as a Certified Recovery Coach at Tempest.

- Be mentored by the Community Manager

- Support the online community by posting encouragement and sharing personal experiences
- Suggested time: 1 hour a week

- Completed Intensive 4 week program or two months of Daily & the 7 day basic course
- Acted as an engaged member of the Tempest community

- Demonstrated understanding of boundaries
To apply for the Community Supporter role, please click “Apply for this job” and answer our short questions! There is no need to submit a resume for this position – really, we don’t need one!
After you apply, we’ll be in touch about entry to our interview process, which consists of one, 30 minute interview with Lisa Barroca, Tempest’s Community Manager. This interview will take place over Zoom.
What we value and why you should join.
We’re a group of passionate and committed individuals determined not only to create a modern, feminist, inclusive, recovery modality but also to entirely upend the way our culture views alcohol—we are the anti-Rose All Day. We have a scrappy, get it done upstart ethos. We believe in showing up no matter what, honesty at all costs, persistence, straight-talking, and risk-taking. We’re not looking culture fits, we’re looking for individuals looking to build an entirely new culture. You should join if you want to make a difference in the world, and see this as the obvious way for you to do just that.
