At Big Health we’re creating the first generation of “digital medicine”. By automating evidence-based talking therapies we’re delivering behavioral medicine in a way that is as scalable and consistent as drugs. Our purpose is to help millions back to good mental health—without pills or potions.

Our sleep improvement program, Sleepio, has been the subject of 20+ peer-reviewed scientific papers, including five randomized controlled trials (RCTs). Most importantly, our users love it – 87% of people who have completed the program would recommend it to others. The Clinical & Research team is particularly dedicated to ensuring our evidence is relevant and of the highest standards, you will have the opportunity to develop our evidence even further.

Although we were born in London, our headquarters are now based in San Francisco. Core members of the Clinical & Research team are working across the globe, with research being led from Oxford. We’re are now looking for a research assistant/ research intern to continue growing our evidence base. You will report directly to Dr Annemarie Luik, our Research Lead, who is based in the Sleep and Circadian Neuroscience Institute at the University of Oxford.

Role & responsibilities:

* To assist in the execution of new research studies on mental health problems, particularly insomnia

* To conduct data analyses, in collaboration with other researchers within Big Health and more widely with our academic partners

* To provide support to our academic partners around the world

* To contribute collaboratively to the preparation of manuscripts submitted for peer-review publication and other written materials

* To assist the Research Lead in daily tasks related to the research pipeline


* MSc or PhD qualification in psychology, mental health, behavioural economics, public health, or a related field

* Expertise in clinical research / behavioral health science

* Experience of using statistical packages such as SPSS

* Proven ability to work effectively within a team and to work flexibly across time zones

* Good communication skills, both written and oral

* Publication record commensurate with experience

* Based at London office or working remotely from within the UK

* Minimum of 24 hours, additional hours up to 40 hours per week can be discussed

* Contract will be for 6 months with the possibility for extension

Bonus if you have

* Experience in cost-effectiveness research

* Specific experience in the digital health area
