Overview

The Icarus Project seeks a dynamic self-starter with a strong commitment to social and racial justice and experience with nonprofit administration and fundraising. This role supports the organization’s operations and development by managing human resource tasks, maintaining relationships to the fiscal sponsor and contractors, and providing research, writing, and editing support to the Development Coordinator. The Icarus Project team works remotely and this position can be based anywhere in the U.S. This is an independent contractor position which pays $30 an hour up to 15 hours per week.

Administrative Duties

* Participates in collective meetings

* Supports organizational development in conjunction with staff, consultants, allies, and community members

* Manages bookkeeper and holds vendor relationships including the production of resources such as Mad Maps

* Support collective leadership as ombudsman and through creation of human resource policies, process, and infrastructure. Manage hiring processes and policy implementation.

* Research funding opportunities and draft and edit fundraising materials

* Maintain communications systems: database, website

Program Duties

* Assists project coordinators and working groups to identify timelines, processes, and goals to effectively meet their objectives

* Helps maintain organizational vision and focus in program work

* Draft and edit grant proposals, LOIs, e-appeals, and newsletters

* Participate in creating fundraising and communications strategies

* Coordinates education program logistics (responding to inquiries, invoices, scheduling facilitators, assisting with trainings as needed)

The successful candidate will have:

* High degree of computer literacy and comfort using Google Drive/Microsoft Office

* Provide own laptop

* Strong writing and communication skills

* Project management skills

* Attention to detail

* Strong initiative and self-sufficiency

* Ability to thrive in non-traditional work settings

* Strong social justice analysis and practice

* Sense of humor

* Fundraising experience

* Familiarity with Salesforce and Mailchimp are a strong plus
